What is your role to protect IP of your company ?

My primary responsibility is to keep a watch on what competitors are working on
and what new developments are happening across the globe in technology areas
of our interest. Prior art search and Patent landscaping is an area where I spend a
lot of my time.

Have you carried out search on IPO/INPASS? If yes, do you get all the required
information?

Yes, I do use Indian patent database regularly. No we do not get all the information
required. The database has a very specified structure and based on experience it
has been observed that all relevant data is not retrieved. Some documents do not
get retrieved and we fail to understand why that happens.

Is the user interface of INPASS is easy / the search engine is robust and have you
faced any server connectivity during searches?
The user interface is tedious to say the least. It is highly structured and allows only a
certain pattern of searching. It is also erroneous as often it does not retrieve recent
patent publications. Generating reports of the result set is also not possible.

Do you look for in-licensing opportunities for your company and do you look for
latest assignment details for Indian patents?

Mostly in-licensing opportunities.
