Gene Therapy of Sphingolipidoses

The study was conducted globally, ~3000 patent families were screened & analyzed. Out
of which, ~500 patent families are shortlisted as relevant and categorized on a

pre-defined taxonomy. The shortlisted documents are used for deriving various insights
and actionable intelligence. Few of highlighted below

• The filing activity has significantly improved in recent times, post 2016.

• 60% of the shortlisted Patents are active and most of the filing & grants are in the US.
• 145 patents are assigned to Genzyme, there are many universities / research
institutes that holds IP in this space.
• China is very active in protecting Patents in recent years as depicted by Innovation
trend chart
